Chevrolet Motor Company (English: Chevrolet), commonly known as Chevy in English circles, was founded in 1911 by American William Durant, who founded General Motors due to disagreements with the DuPont family, the majority shareholder of General Motors. He left General Motors and entered into a relationship with Swiss racing driver and engineer Louis Chevrolet. Founded in Detroit, USA. It was later acquired by General Motors in 1918.
